Celebrating World Wildlife Day with Our Bay View Farm ʻOhana

Every day at Bay View Farm is a celebration of life — from the lush coffee trees that produce our world-famous 100% Kona coffee to the lively creatures that call our farm home. But on World Wildlife Day, we take a moment to shine the spotlight on our beloved animal ʻohana who make this place truly special.

Our Faithful Farm Companions

Meet Honey and Haʻina, our loyal poi farm dogs. These two are the heart of the farm, always ready to greet visitors with wagging tails and joyful energy. Sometimes, they might even join you on our farm tours, trotting happily alongside as if they’re your personal guides. Whether they’re exploring the coffee fields or relaxing in the shade, they remind us that farm life is best lived with a little playfulness and a lot of love.

The Watchful Guardians

Our farm cats are the quiet protectors of Bay View Farm. They help keep the farm free of unwanted pests while adding their own charm and personality to the place. You’ll often find them perched near the drying decks, keeping a careful eye on everything that moves — graceful, curious, and always ready for a sunny nap.

The Tiny Treasures

Look closely among the tropical leaves and you’ll spot flashes of emerald and gold — the gold dust day geckos. These dazzling little residents feast on flies, mosquitoes, and other tiny insects, helping keep the farm balanced and healthy. They also love sipping nectar and fruit juice, adding a touch of sweetness to their daily routine.

The Chirpy Conversationalist

No farm ʻohana would be complete without a little song, and that’s where Peaberry the parakeet comes in. With bright feathers and an even brighter personality, Peaberry fills the air with cheerful chirps and chatter. Whether perched near the coffee trees or greeting visitors with a friendly squawk, this colorful companion brings a joyful soundtrack to daily life at Bay View Farm.

The Unexpected Overseer

And then there’s Buddy, our self-appointed rooster-in-residence. He showed up one day as if he’d always belonged here — and now, he does. Buddy struts proudly through the fields, keeping pests at bay and adding his cheerful crow to the farm’s morning soundtrack.

A Living, Breathing ʻOhana

At Bay View Farm, every creature — furry, feathered, or scaly — is part of the story. They bring balance, joy, and a sense of connection to the land that can’t be measured. We are so thankful for our animals for doing their part in keeping Bay View Farm beautiful, lively, and full of aloha — just like the 100% Kona coffee we’re proud to grow and share with the world.

Come to Bay View Farm and get a chance to meet them in person during our farm tours, happening Mondays through Saturdays in the heart of Captain Cook, Hawaiʻi. Sign-up today!
